[MZ] AP – Blocking

Here’s an updated version of my Blocking plugin for RPG Maker MZ. It mostly does the same thing as the MV version, you can read up on it on that post.

New things added with this update:

• You may now have several flat reduction or percental reduction calculation steps occur in battle if you would like to.

There is one thing you should be aware of: For some reason the text that an actor has blocked a certain amount of damage (“x has blocked y damage!”) sometimes does not show up when using the VisuStella Battle plugin. There is no way for me to provide a compatibility update to fix this issue, since VisuStella plugins are obfuscated and therefore I cannot intertwine my code harmoniously into theirs.

  1. Thanks for doing this Alistair, this was a great plugin for MV and I will gladly use it again. As far as VisuStella they are pretty helpful to other plugin developers who want to get stuff working with theirs. All you have to do is E-mail YF and explain the issue and they will show/tell you how to integrate it with their stuff or show you how to make it work.

  2. I tried getting this to work with VisuStella ElementStatus in trying to have the values for Blocks to show up in the status menu but they don’t show up, it just shows blank spaces, in the comments for your plugin it sounds like it’s supposed to work with VisuStella ElementStatus plugin but it doesn’t seem to.

I’ve used the names ‘APPhyBlockRate’ and ‘phyBlockRate’ in the VS ElementStatus plugin. What else could possibly make them show up in the status menu?

    1. Hi Knightmare,

actually, this plugin was only compatible with Yanfly’s Status Menu Core for MV because I was able to add a compatibility patch back then. Since the obfuscation though, it’s impossible to do that.
It is true that the VisuStella coders stated that one can get in touch with them to fix compatibility issues, but the problem that I’m having with this, is that if I were to port and update all of my old MV plugins to MZ (which I plan to eventually do), I would have to constantly bother them about compatibility issues and I’m honestly not interested in doing this.
To return to your initial comment: If the ElementStatus plugin is anything similar to the Status Menu Core for MV then it will need a compatibility patch as well.
I’m sorry for all of this inconvenience, Knightmare!

      1. It’s ok man, it’s your plugin and your life so you do your thing that’s totally cool, I’m happy enough just having the plugin. If there’s a way to call it in a variable or something I could probably find a workaround. Thanks for addressing this at least, I like the avi by the way (huge Ace Attorney fan here also)

    1. Hello, yes I’m planning to do that! 🙂 I’m hoping I’ll have more time for scripting later in November, right now it’s kinda difficult to spend the time on it.

      1. Thanks. I’m just taking my time wring the story, so I’m cool. 😀

PS: For some reason I always think in Alistar from Dragon Age when I write your name and misspell it, my bad lol
